  • bozo

I was experiencing extreme frustration with my new English Lab puppy Bozo not only from the challenges of house training but with having issues with my two young children (3 and 6 years old.) I considered board and train programs like Troy's well beyond what I could afford but recognized I didn't have the time or patience for doing what needed to be done to solve the immediate puppy problems Bozo was creating in my household. I needed some professional help to cut down the learning curve and get started on the path of having an obedient dog where everybody would be happier and healthier.

After interviewing multiple trainers I went with Troy for a few reasons. Not only did his training technique make sense to me but his professionalism from the start was clear. Troy went way, way above and beyond when it came to my dog's personal care and training. I'll spare the details but the time spent with Troy was well beyond what was promised and the results were far beyond what I expected. Communication throughout the whole process was prompt and efficient and it became apparent throughout the process that the dog's (and families) well being was Troy's first priority and not his own comfort or pocketbook.

At the end of the process, Troy set me up not only with the little details and actual materials of a new and much healthier (as well as cheaper) feeding regime but has given me the tools to have a new relationship with my dog that I never knew existed. Super easy to keep up the tools when the foundation is completely laid and the hard work has already been done. Even within a few days my family and dog are much happier and there is none of the frustration I was experiencing before I gave my dog Bozo up to this exceptional trainer.

I now have a healthier, more obedient and less frustrating and happier dog. Also one of the biggest advantages is that he is CALM. That's an incredible feat considering the insane household that a family with two young children live in.

I'm so excited to know that a financial sacrifice made now is going to provide a lifetime of healthier and happier interaction with our new family member between not only our family, but other people and dogs as well. I'm shouting it from the rooftops......TROY IS THE BEST!!!!

  • indy

Troy has genuinely changed my red lab puppy (Indy) for the better. Before sending Indy off to Troy, he was so far from being house trained, barking non stop, biting, jumping, unable to walk on a leash, and terrible at being in the crate. My boyfriend and I were losing patience as the days went on and Indy was having worse and worse behavioral issues. We decided we needed professional training and after doing extensive research, we found Troy to be the best option possible.

From the very start - Troy has been very communicative and professional. As soon as I contacted him via thumbtack, he gave me a call and we talked for a while. He could tell that I was feeling very stressed about Indy, so he gave me a bunch of advice before I even hired him. I could tell right off the bat that troy knew what he was doing and would be the best fit for training Indy.

We hired Troy as our trainer and sent Indy off to him for a month. A month is not a very long time for training, yet Troy changed him for the better. We were shocked at how good Indy was when we got him back. Indy is now able to walk on a leash, house trained, isn’t barking, chewing or biting, crate trained, able to do place work and is able to do service dog tests.

I will say it is crucial to keep up with the training as an owner. Troy continually stressed that “training is for the lifetime of the dog” While Troy was able to do the hard work, your dog will go back on that progress if you fail to continue down the path he lays out for you. Good news is that Troy is really great with continuing contact after the training to make sure you are on the right track. Take the off boarding seriously and your dog will continue to make amazing progress. I have been very adamant with the training and Indy is now on the path to becoming a service dog. I’m very excited about this as I will be becoming a therapist. If you have any hesitancy, just look at his reviews. There is not one bad review and that means a lot in this day and age.

  • milo

Troy is a professional and highly skilled trainer. He gave me a detailed explation of his background knowledge, training techniques, and what to expect from the training.

He took my dod for a month and kept me updated of his progress through videos, texts or phone calls. He always returned my calls quickly if he was not able to answered them when I called.

When I hired Troy Milo was very stubborn, disobedient and destructive. He is a beagle and his howling was driving us crazy. Our lives were turning miserable. After the training Milo is much calmer, his barks have reduced 85 to 90 percent less, and more importantly he understand that no means no.

During the offboarding, Troy spent two days instructing us step by step on how to work with Milo in our home. We keep in contact with him as he continues to coach us.

I will highly recommend him to anyone who is loking for a professional trainer who delivers results.

Troy was the perfect trainer for us. No nonsense. Straight to the point. I appreciate the lack of sugarcoating. In the end we’re talking about what’s best for the dog/puppy AND the owner. As Troy says, “the dog will do their work. The owner has to have training too. And keep up with the training too.”

lol nice you’re a client, he really invests in you as much as he did the dog. I love that.

Our puppy was 5 months old when Troy took her. She came back a little lady. Now at 7 months, she gets tons of compliments when we’re out, and it’s mostly her behavior—well, 60/40 cuteness to behavior.

  • Charlie boy

I adopted my (now 5 year old dog) at the age of 2, with an ex partner. Our training methodologies never quite lined up with one another. Long story short, I now have sole ownership of the dog, and after just a few short weeks with Troy, his training has surpassed anything I would’ve ever imagined. He is incredibly compliant with not only standard commands like sit, down, heel, and kennel, but he’s also become comfortable with more advanced trainings like hold, whoa etc. I highly recommend Troy.

My dog is still with Troy at the time of this review, but so far, I am very pleased with what I have heard from him. He is very, passionate about his work, responsive to my queries and gets back to me in a timely manner. I hope his result will be as effective as his professional manner.

  • King

Troy has forever changed our life! I got my Doberman when he was about 10 months old. King had a lot of behavioral problems that were formed from his previous living situation.

King had excessive pulling issues. I was at the point where I couldn’t walk my dog or take him anywhere because of how excitable and stubborn he was. King loves other dogs but he would run me into the ground trying to get to another animal. everything became centered around trying to make sure that when I took him out we avoided all animals so I would still have some control over him which wasn’t realistic and never really worked. Troy helped me understand the ways in which I was enabling King and how to be the leader King needs me to be.

King also had extreme attachment issues and would whine relentlessly if there was any distance between him and I while I was around or when I left the house.

After being with Troy for a month King came back a brand new dog. I couldn’t believe it! I was able to walk King and feel a sense of peace that for the first time I had control over my dog. The whining decreased significantly and my overall relationship with my dog became something beautiful that I didn’t think was possible.

Troy is an incredible human being. Not only is dedicated and devoted to providing the best training for your dog that is free of treats and heavily focused on positive reinforcement, but he also genuinely cares about you as his client. During King’s time boarding Troy would send regular updates and videos to show me King’s progress. To this day I keep in regular contact with Troy about King and recommend his services to everyone. If you are looking for a trainer, Troy is thee one!!

  • Mayo

Troy is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Before I contracted him for my puppies board & train, he was very clear about his methods and let me know what results I could expect. He met all my expectations as well as exceeded others.

Mayo now lets me sleep in the mornings. That was a big deal for me. Mayo was an 8 week old puppy, very young for training. Troy’s patience was challenged; I’m sure. Mayo returned to us well trained while still remaining very eager, playful and now ready to work. Since he was so young, his socialization with other dogs was important to me, and troy was clear about what type of play is and is not acceptable from Mayo.

Troy’s training style is firm but calm, he made a point to explain to me the difference between leadership and punishment. Leadership is proactive and enriching to the dog. I continue learning as an owner and handler. It’s important to keep working with mayo to be consistent and reinforce good behaviors without treats. When I contact Troy, he responds immediately being encouraging and very specific about what to do and not do. I confidently encourage anyone looking for an excellent trainer to consider Troy for a comprehensive dog training program.

  • Koda Bear

I highly recommend Troy’s dog training! When I rescued my dog I felt confident I knew what I was doing. I quickly realized I had no idea how to properly train a dog. When I went online there were so many different options on how to train your dog. Different styles and techniques I was overwhelmed at the options. Troy immediately jumped in and helped with all the questions I was having on how to handle Koda. After a few months of working with him I gained so much confidence and looked forward to training my dog every day and watching him improve.
